Pirates 4
Pirates 4
POTC4 updates from around the web

Walt Disney have been planning to release the fourth instalment of its most successful trilogy 'Pirates of the Caribbean 4' in 2011.Though many reports are conflicting on how the studio get on the fourth film, many favor that the fourth film will focus solely on the renowned Captain Jack Sparrow.
Further, it was said that as the studio is trying to downsize the film's budget, the fourth instalment would probably have a lighter take on the special effects.
Although there has been no definitive word yet on if or when Walt Disney Pictures and producer Jerry Bruckheimer might set sail on a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, indeed, both the cast and the filmmakers said while promoting last summer's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End that the franchise would be taking a well-deserved break, rumours have now surfaced about the plot to Pirates 4. So, the production might not begin now until some time between 2009 and 2011.
Johnny Depp is all but set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Also reportedly expected to return are co-star Geoffrey Rush.
It could be disappointment for fans that Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are not expected to be back, but it's not official yet.
"Pirates 4 "would toss the Elizabeth & Will characters [portrayed by Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, respectively] over the side in favor of doing a bawdy buddy picture which would star Jack Sparrow & Barbossa, where both captains of the Black Pearl would initially be competing for the exact same prize. But eventually all the double crossing would have to stop as these two rivals are then forced to join forces in order to defeat some supernatural terror."
The first three 'Pirates' films which featured Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley were extremely successful garnishing millions of dollars each.
The first film 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl' grossed more than $305.4 million domestically and $654.3 million worldwide.
'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest' got better reception by earning $423.3 in North America only and over one billion dollars around the world, while the third 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End' reached $961 million in its worldwide sales.
Keira Knightley ends pirates of the Caribbean 4 speculation
So sad to see her finally walk the plank.
Keira Knightley has fired a shot across the bow. She has stated that there be no more Pirating in the Caribbean. She was quoted by MovieFone, saying,
"It was a completely fantastic experience, and it was an amazingly large portion of my life, but I don't think I need to go there again......I think that it's done. But I'm very excited to see the next one. And Johnny Depp is so wonderful in that character. I think it'll be wonderful."
So, while we allegedly will get yet another Pirates of the Caribbean movie, it will be without the hottest female pirate those warm seas have ever seen.
MovieFone has reported that number 4 is actually in the works, Johnny Depp will return to play Captain Jack Sparrow, but Orlando Bloom has yet to be confirmed.
And since he is the new Davy Jones and Keira just sits and pines for him (at least that's how I interpreted the end of the 3rd one...oh yeah SPOILER ALERT!!, my bad). Maybe it would be more fun with out the two of them. Frankly I would love to see Jack and Barbossa rival each other pillaging the islands. That'd be awesome.
Russell Brand Talks Pirates of the Caribbean 4
Source: Access Hollywood
March 10, 2009
Access Hollywood asked Russell Brand about last year's rumor that he will have a role in Pirates of the Caribbean 4. His response?
"There's been some talk of doing a 'Pirates' movie," Russell told Billy Bush for AccessHollywood.com and "The Billy Bush Show." "But, I've got eight other things to do [including] 'Get Him To The Greek' with Judd Apatow... So I don't know if there'll be time to be a pirate, I've got enough of that in me private life."
In "Greek," Brand would reprise his character Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
The last thing we heard about the fourth "Pirates" film was in November, 2008, when producer Jerry Bruckheimer said they were targeting a 2012 release.
Verbinski's had enough 'Pirates'
Director to focus on Universal's 'Bioshock'
It's no longer a pirate's life for Gore Verbinski.
After spending the better part of the last six years directing the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, which grossed $2.6 billion worldwide, Verbinski has informed Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer that he will not helm a fourth instalment that's expected to set sail in 2010 with Johnny Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Sequel is in development but not yet greenlit. It's unknown how Verbinski's ankling will affect the pic's schedule.
Verbinski will instead focus on other projects that include "Bioshock," a Universal Pictures adaptation of the bestselling vidgame that has a John Logan script and is likely to be Verbinski's next film as a director.
"I had a fantastic time bringing 'Pirates' to life, and I am eternally grateful to Jerry, Johnny and the rest of the creative and production team," Verbinski said. "I'm looking forward to all of us crossing paths again in the future."
Verbinski is still working with Depp, though. He has been directing "Rango," a CG-animated film for Paramount Pictures, with Depp voicing the title character. Logan wrote the script based on an idea by Verbinski. Paramount has set a March 2011 release.
Verbinski's U-based Blind Wink Prods. is developing several other potential directing vehicles, including "Clue," a live-action murder mystery based on the Hasbro board game, and a drama based on a Wall Street Journal article about the online fantasy role-playing world and its debilitating impact on the real lives of players. Steven Knight ("Eastern Promises") is penning the latter.
