Serenity

So I joined PNN to find a place to hang with some gals and chit chat and share my writing. I also like to read others work and share in day to day pleasantries etc. We have a lot of fun most of the time. 

We each build our pages and add to it what we choose to, some do it for the soul purpose of self expression, others to take a stand and have their say on an issue they believe in and still others do a bit of both, or a variety of things  I fit into the latter somewhat. 

I didn't intend any of the things that I post on my Obama page or my activism page to be an open invitation to heavy discussion or debate on issues, it was to me much like posting my page to Johnny Depp. I like Obama, so on occasion I post info about him. I get regular emails from various action groups so I post them as well. You may notice I don't write a political column or speak regularly on those issues. The odd commetnt here and there that's pretty much it.

I also don't go looking for political debates to get into, Why? Because I am not interested in getting into arguments and politics like religion has a tendency to fire people up. So for the most part I exist here peacefully doing my thing and leave that stuff up to those who do like a little mixer.

I took exception to one member stirring up embers on one of my posts and after a couple of warnings stating that I did not appreciate it or want that kind of thing on my pages, I began deleting his comments. 

He since then has claimed this is because he disagrees with my agenda and I just want to shut him up from having his say. He has in fact called me a bigot and foolish me I let myself get engaged in verbal back and forth defending the ridiculousnous of that claim, which then came back as me somehow defending my narrow bigoted view etc, etc, etc. 

At no time was this about politics to me, That was never the issue, though he seems intent on making that my reasons. it just so happens the comments made were on a post that was about politics but had he come to my pages with the same atitude about any of the things posted on my page, my reaction would have been the same. 

I don't want arguing and he is not the only one who has been told this. 

I also don't really care if people agree or disagree on things I believe in as it is their right to believe in whatever they choose. 

He feels that by not allowing his rants on my pages that I am hampering his freedom of speech and in fact anyone who dares come to my defence is relegated to the moniker of being my cheerleaders like there is some group effort to somehow come after him. 

Well for the record that is not nor was it ever my intention but it is clear trying to say so falls on deaf ears. I can even see where writing this will in some way be turned into some supposed propaganda spin to somehow further the agenda I actually don't have. 

So why is it I wonder that some people hear something totally different to what you are saying, no matter how many ways you try to say it.

Moreso why do we then feel the need to try and set them straight when it becomes clear that they choose not to see what we are really saying?

To me that is a senseless waste of energy I have so many other things to think about and do. Sadly it has marred the feel good experience PNN had been up til then.   

In the meantime the only thing to do now of course is, have my say here and know that I spoke my truth and those who choose to believe as he does that it is just me putting the spin on things will do so. Others will understand that I was merely standing up for my right not to be harassed whether he saw it that way or not it is how it felt.

I made the mistake of wandering over to his page [someone told me he had made comments about me in a negative fashion].  I tried unsuccessfully to state my case clearly once again and well it was a waste of time and ended up accomplishing nothing but more diatribe. However it is his page and he has the right to say what he chooses there. So I choose not to go there again or add any more fuel to a needless fire. It's a good thing I know myself and who I am inside so other than feeling my rights got a little trampled, I am feeling just fine.

God grant me the serenity 
to accept the things I cannot change; 
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time; 
Enjoying one moment at a time; 
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; 
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it; 
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life 
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
