Starlets Of The Golden Era

Starlets Of The Golden Era

Ahh the golden age of cinema I am a lover of those old movies from the 30s n 40s. and an avid fan of the films from the 50s n 60s. Talkies they called them when first they reared their heads in the 20s.

I used to watch them in awe of the beauty of the starlets and the handsomeness of the leading men. Musicals were my favorite the clothes were a close second.

Marred only by the stereotyping of people of color [since that was in the days of maids and minstrels the step and fetch it's and the simpletons, lazy, shiftless, image.

These things did not become relevent to me until I was older. So for a time I simply got lost in the worlds of Fred Astaire n Ginger Rogers Gene kelly and Cyd Charisse to name but a couple. in the 50s n 60s musicals slowly began to fade away after the beach movies lsot their lustre, until notable films like Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell  and then, John Travolta and disco fever came along and reinvented the musical all over again......but I digress.

This page is about those early years  and the Starlets who mesmerized me. I may toss in a few of those leading men, a dance couple or two and of course for Carpe, a special section devoted to Marilyn Monroe... who knows let's see how the gallery grows shall we.
